ACES: The Society for Editing

Oversee the operation of ACES, a non-profit organization with more than 1,800 members. Direct the 15-member board on strategic planning, new business development, conference/training planning, partnerships, fund-raising, branding and board operation. Serve as the voice of ACES on national editing issues.

American Copy Editors Society

Served as contest chairperson. Served on conference committee, organizing tracks on management training and digital editing. Created Robinson Prize, a $3,000 annual award to recognize excellence in copy editing, and the Glamann Award, an honor granted to an individual or organization for contributions to the craft of editing. Created first research initiatives and director of research position.

Garden in the Sky Project leader

 

Gary Comer Youth Center/Chicago Cares

Organized monthly project of 10-15 volunteers to work with master gardner and community members at Gary Comer Youth Center on planting, harvesting and educating.

Volunteer, team leader, backup leader

Chicago Cares

Served as project leader and backup project leader for monthly Garfield Park Conservatory project from 2004-2006. Manage school project at Serve-a-thon, managing 200-300 volunteers repainting a school each summer. Continue to serve as volunteer at various monthly projects.
